Bios Are Hard, Y’all

  Bios are hard, y’all.

I’m a wife and mama from the great flat state of Kansas. I’ve been married to my Dougie for 13 + years and we have two adorable and precocious children, Jacob and Katie. I’d rather have a steamy mug of coffee than the most expensive glass of wine and I have a sugar wafer addiction I really must get control of.

I’m a freelance writer, juggling assignments like a circus performer in sparkly red shoes. Currently, I’m the Editor for the book review site, Book End Babes and Community Manager for Athena Institute, parent company of Book End Babes and indie publishing site, Buzz Books USA.

I’m also working on and accepting freelance projects for website content, editing, copy writing, social media management and hamster sitting. It’s tough out there, people.

My first published short story, “No Place Like Home,” debuted on 11-11-11, in the winter anthology, Sleigh Ride. Weee!

I love to read as much as I love to write so my editing/guest-blogging gig at Book End Babes is the perfect fit.

When I’m not writing for work or world peace, I’m embarrassing my husband and children by sharing our personal lives here on the Things Life What-Not page.

I’m proud to be founder of VOGM Parents.org, an organization created after my daughter, Katie, battled and won a rare brain disorder, Vein of Galen Malformation.

I’m currently writing a book about our experience with VOGM and the treatment we sought in New York. I’m sharing our tale to raise awareness and secretly hope to score an interview with the dreamy Brian Williams from NBC News.
